Gentle Native
Gently, as I feel the earth beneath my feet.
Dancing over animals, and things that I cannot see.
Feeling the power within, and around me.
Gently, it is with the earth that I want to be.
Gently, as I lay upon her.
As I embrace all that she is.
I look into the night sky.
And watch the ancients ones, passing by.
She surrounds me, as I walk into her sea.
Envelopes me with her ecstasy.
With the earth I am gently,
Part of, and she with me.
How long has it been since you
have laid with the earth.
Inhaling all that she holds.
Rolling in the grass,
And feeling her unfold.
When have you brushed by her children,
And felt the gentle caress,
Of all that she is,
And know you have been blessed.
"Lay down with me gentle native," she says.
Feel the others that walk upon me.
Feel me rumble when I am angry.
Inhale the aroma of my children,
the pine, and the sea.
Bask in the warm desert sun.
Warm your feet in my sand.
Climb the rocks, searching
for where the water began.
And in the evening,
Feel my breath.
As I kiss your skin,
With a gentle caress.
I have watched you,
Play in my snow.
Running with your dog,
spying a majestic buck or doe.
I have watched you climbing
my mountain streams.
Perched upon a rock, with
nothing but your dreams.
I have seen you bounding to,
and splashing in my lakes.
I have seen you running from,
and screaming at my snakes.
I have seen how much joy I have given you.
And for this, gentle native, I ask you to
walk slow beside me.
After hearing earth mother whisper these things to me,
My thoughts ran into blanks.
I could think of nothing to compare with the
praise she bestowed upon me.
Finally in my most humble way.
I blurted out the only thing I could
think of to say.
I love you earth mother, and thanks.

*I was questioned as to what it means to dance
over animals and things that you cannot see.
When you are in complete harmony with the
earth mother, you may walk over small animals,
snakes, bugs and things, and they do not run
in fear of you but, simple don't bother with you.
Also earth mother was questioned as to mother
earth. Since we have so many mothers, earth
mother is properly accepeted:):):):) As she is
one of our great mothers and should be given
that type of respect. She KNOWS when you
love and respect her, and so do her children:):):)
