Books for Charity

For centuries, the artists and writers have influenced and reflected cultures and societies. Through literature and the arts, we have the means to entertain, persuade, invoke emotion, and to make people think. In recognition of the power of books and the arts, Books for Charity uses these tools to call attention to organizations throughout the United States that try to alleviate the symptoms and causes of social ills that exist through economic circumstances, biological illnesses and environmental consequences of modern life.

Books for Charity, established by founders Kirsten O'Connor and John O'Connor, is a non-profit organization that raises social awareness of charitable organizations through high profile, visual art photo book projects.
Books for Charity is working in partnership with Nitehawk Publishing, Inc. to create its first book, Angels for Little Angels, a full sized photo book of celebrities in various fields of the entertainment industry in different situations and backgrounds.

So far, the support has been tremendous. Within a month's time of asking the celebrities to donate their time for a photo shoot, we already have 20 celebrities who have enthusiastically agreed to do the project, including Alyssa Milano and several daytime television stars. We are hoping to sign on at least one hundred entertainers to participate in the project, which will quickly send it to the bestseller's list.

Books for Charity is going to donate ten percent of the sales from Angels for Little Angels to a charitable organization that provides nutritious meals to families living in underdeveloped economic areas of the United States.

The proceeds that will go to the children's organizations have a potential of being enormous. A book project like this will help attract and highlight the different organizations and their efforts to feed starving children.

Books that make the best sellers list also sell in the millions. A million books sold would give our Children's charities millions of dollars to help the 25% of the children in the United States who are in danger of going hungry each night. One out of every four children go hungry in the United States, one of the richest nations in the world.

According to The Writer's and Photographer's Guide to Global Markets by Michael Sedge, anyone in the spotlight in the U.S. is an extremely popular topic and will sell well overseas. We are going after the global market, which will also help to increase your audience worldwide. Imagine how many families we can feed once we let this book loose on the global marketplace.

Books for Charity and Nitehawk Publishing also have future projects planned that will help homeless animals and preservation of the Everglades. Although the returns from projects of this nature are potentially enormous, the expenses are also high. Funds are needed for grants to the artists, traveling, equipment, printing and other expenses to support the ongoing efforts of Angels for Little Angels and other projects.

We hope that you will help us lead the way to changing the way people think. Admittedly, before we thought of this project, we would often think that it?s too bad we can?t do more to help people in need. It is very easy to feel that the most you can do is help only a few people at a time, and that if everyone felt like this, the world would be a better place. I know that most people feel they only have time for their little universe and family unit, and that is all the good they have time to do. You could help us show people that if a large amount of people gave just a little effort, just cared a little more, that the world can and will be a better place to live. Thank you for your interest in Books for Charity.
