Mankind has always been concerned about eternal life. Throughout the annals of history
we see man's constant quest to obtain eternal life. Let's look at a few examples.
Ancient Egyptians believed in the divine power of Pharaoh. To them Pharaoh was the
only one absolutely sure of immortality (eternal life). Therefore, for an ancient Egyptian,
eternal life was dependent on serving Pharaoh in this world and the next. As a result,
every Egyptian ardently desired to serve Pharaoh in some way - directly and indirectly.
This was their guarantee to eternal life.
Later, as the power of the Pharaohs declined Egyptians challenged this source of eternal
life. They now believe that eternal life is promised to every worthy man by Osiris, god of
the dead. Osiris was now seen as the true source of eternal lie not servitude to Pharaoh.
Today, as in ancient Egypt, there is much confusion about the true source of eternal life.
In April of this year, America was confronted with this confusion. We were faced with
the mass suicide of the Heaven's Gate cult and their misguided beliefs.
These men and women were in search of one thing - ETERNAL LIFE. Unfortunately,
their search led them to the false teachings of Applewhite and Nettles, who claimed to be
extraterrestrial representatives of God's Kingdom called the �Kingdom Level Above
Human."
Members believed that a disciplined life style, change of birth names and renouncing
family and friends will prepare them to ascent to space and enter God's Kingdom -
thereby achieving eternal life. The Comet Hale-Bopp was seen as the "marker" that
marks the arrival of a space craft to take them to the "Kingdom Level Above Human,"
their eternal home.
Many responded to this in disbelief but to those men and women it was the absolute
truth. Their chilling death is proof of their belief in this doctrine. It is therefore
imperative for us to know the truth about Eternal Life.
According to Webster, Eternal means unending, forever, meant to last indefinitely. Other
synonyms for eternal are immortal, unperishable, everlasting, without end, perpetual.
How can we obtain this everlasting, unending, perpetual, eternal life?
My friends, there is only one way. Eternal life is to know God (The Creator of Heaven
and Earth), and his Son Jesus, whom he sent. The Gospel of St. John chapter 17, verse 3
states "And this is life Eternal, that they might know thee the only true God, and Jesus
Christ whom thou hast sent."
This God is not extraterrestrial; he is not the God of ancient Egypt; he is not an idol or
the figment of our imagination. He is the God spoken of in the bible and his name is
Jehovah or Yahweh. This God gives us eternal life through his only begotten Son, Jesus
Christ. The Gospel of St. John Chapter 17, verse 2 states "As thou has given his power
over all flesh, that he should give eternal life to as many as thou hast given him."
Fellowship with God and with his Son Jesus Christ is the true source of Eternal life. The
Bible tells us that anyone who believes in Jesus will not perish (St. John chapter 3 verses
15, 16, & 36). This person has tapped into the true source or fountain of Eternal Life.
In his discourse with the Woman from Samaria, Jesus states that drinking from a natural
well will cause you to thirst again. However, drinking water from his well will cause you
NEVER to thirst again (John Chapter 4 verses 13-14). Drinking water from Jesus'
supernatural well, his supernatural fountain and his supernatural source leads to eternal
life. Hallelujah!! The search for eternal life is over!! We do not have to hop from well to
well - from the well of cultism, to the well of Islam, to the well of extraterrestrial, to the
well of Egyptology, to the well of Bhudda,
to the well of ancestral roots, to the well of witchcraft, to the well of new age, serching
for eternal life. These are all natural wells made by man. These wells will cause you to
thirst again and again, eventually leading to death (remember Heaven's Gate). But the
well of Jesus is
supernatural and its water springs up into everlasting life.
The well of Jesus Christ gives life (not suicide & death), in this world and the next. In
John Chapter 18 verse 10, Jesus states ". . . I am come that they might have life, and that
they might have it more abundantly." Jesus wants you to live and not die. In John
Chapter 5, verse 25, Jesus states that all that hear his voice SHALL LIVE. The true
doctrine of Jesus Christ leads to eternal life. In John Chapter 8, verse 51, Jesus says "If
any man keep my saying, he shall never see death."
If you are one of the many in search of eternal life OR if you are just tired of life, turn to
Jesus. He has the words of Eternal life (John 6:68). You can start by saying this short
prayer aloud to God the Father through his Son Jesus and believe with all you heart . . . .
Father, In the name of Jesus, I confess that I am a sinner and ask for forgiveness. I
believe with all my heart and confess with my mouth that Jesus is your Son and was born
of the virgin Mary. I accept him as my Personal Savior and ask him to come into my
heart. Please cleanse me with
your blood Lord Jesus and teach me your ways. Thank you for saving me. I will now
live my life for you.
Now that you are saved, you next step is to attend a BIBLE BELIEVING
CHURCH and begin to live your life according to God's word. REMEMBER,
ETERNAL LIFE IS UNION WITH THE TRUE AND LIVING GOD.
