MISTIERS: Jim Whaley TITLE: "The Odyssey" by Homer CHARACTERS: Mike, Servo and Crow SUMMARY: I'm sure we're all familiar with "The Odyssey". Odysseus travels around the Mediteranian for ten years because he stupidly told a Cyclops his name so that the Cyclops could curse him and make him wander around aimlessly. Did anyone invent the compass yet? HOST SEGMENTS: Segment One: Mike has now officialy been up on the Satelite longer than Joel, so the 'Bots make a bad cake and throw a party. They bring out the time machine so Mike can re-meet the people who had the most influence on him. First it's...Doctor Forretster and TV's Frank! Segment Two: The Mads leave via the time machine. Servo has become entranced by the Lotus flower. Segment Three: After a fight in the theater, Mike fixes the damage he did to Crow. Servo turns the time machine on and Ortega pops out. Segment Four: Ortega leaves. Crow and Servo act out the scene with Odysseus and the Cyclops. Pearl and company arrive to see how the Odyssey is having an effect. They are interrupted by commercial sign, and Observer can't teleport off the Satelite with all the security devices activated by the story. Pearl hits him on the head and marches into the theater. Segment Five: Servo sings an alternate song to lure people to the Siren's island. The last visitor from the time machine is...Joel! Segment Six: Joel leaves while the 'Bots cry. Bobo sugests to Pearl that they should watch bad movies too. Stinger: The Cyclops calls Odysseus a ninny. REFLECTIONS: I don't know why I did the Odyssey. I had to type out every word from my English textbook. I wanted to have all the old characters come and riff along with M&TB, and the time machine was the only way to do it. It was fun to write several more people into the MiSTing: Doctor F, Frank, Gypsy, Cambot, Pearl, Observer, Bobo, Ortega, and Joel. At one point near the end, I had the 'Bots leave so only Joel and Mike could sit and riff. I feel I was showing a comparison of the two characters, and it really worked well. -JAW CHRONOLOGICAL NOTES: After my "Off-Road Brawl" MiSTing RECOMMENDED READING: [none]
