Saint Michael's Mount

causeway (123K)

The island is approached by this causeway.  The castle on top of the island was there before the Spanish Armada passed by in 1588. Torches were lighted atop the Mount to signal the arrival of the Spanish fleet

After one gets across the causeway, one sees the little harbor. To get to the building above, one climbs a rocky path, a strenuous climb.

View Closer  Still closer

Once into the castle, one can look down at the garden below or look at the scenery.

We enjoyed Marazion, the village from which one takes the causeway. One can see how narrow the streets are. Because it was about 9:00 AM, I found a place to park.
