Who we are
History of ALPHA CHI OMEGA (Philippines)
Alpha Chi
Omega started as a mere concept in the mind of a young and talented woman. Her
name is Melody Lopez Momongan. She was 18 at that time and a student of AB
Political Science at the University of San Carlos, Cebu City, Philippines. She
was active in school activities and took part in academic related organization
like Carolinian Political Science Society. In her junior year, she found time in
observing exclusive organization, sororities, and fraternities. She was deeply
attached to her father's enthusiasm in a circle of brotherhood, a Greek
Fraternity-in name only. Curious in her time about brotherhood and sisterhood,
she asked her father about what in a sense could such an organization do
something good to our fellowmen and college students in particular. Feeling the
keen interest of knowing more about the mystic ideals of Greek-letter societies,
she began reading the compilations of her father's materials; American College
Women Fraternities; Inter fraternalism and the kinds of Fraternities and
Sororities and its Origin and Evolutions. While reading, she felt she has found
her organization. Almost similar to her father's fraternity, the name is ALPHA
CHI OMEGA. She wrote the objectives and Preamble, something that suits her
principles and idealism. On that very day, December 20, 2000, Alpha Chi Omega
was born, not only in her heart and mind of the young founder, Melody Momongan
but she made it visible in minds of young college students in Cebu Colleges and
Universities. She introduced the constitution she had written and conveyed to
them her idealism and principles she laid down in Alpha Chi Omega, believing
that humanity is for good and not evil; that happiness in heaven is part of a
reward of suffering here on earth.

Symphony
The Symphony of Alpha Chi Omega
To see beauty even in
the common things of
life, to shed the light of love
and friendship round me: to
keep my life in tune with the
world that I shall make no
discords in the harmony
of life, to strike on the lyre
of the universe only the
notes of happiness, of joy, of
peace; to appreciate every
little service rendered: to
see and appreciate all that
is noble in another, be her
badge what it may, and to
let my lyre send forth the
chords of love, unselfishness
sincerity. This is to be my
symphony.
