What's SIF all about?

The Sexual Identity Forum (SIF) started way back in 1991 by Michael Sally of Youth and Family Assistance with a grant from the Grousbeck Foundation. It has been going strong ever since and is facilitated by Stephanie Hazen and Gabe Lieuw of The Redwood City Youth Health Center, also the location of our meetings. The group is a safe, confidential, drop-in support group for GBLTQ youth ages 12-23. Our group discussion topics can range from sex and dating, to relationships, families, coming out, or even simple things like movies and men in big red trucks. Our group is designed to meet the social and emotional needs of GBLTQ youth in San Mateo County and we do what we can to cross that bridge of counseling and social needs, and can have anywhere from 5-15 youth on any given night. Gabe and Steph are particularly excited about the QYEP Project because now the group can have more emphasis on being a support group for Queer youth as there is now a branch of services dedicated to social event planning.
