About Us
Return to Sanctuary 1 - Foyer

G'day!
Allow me to introduce ourselves.
My name is Warwick and my lover is Jason (photo '92 | photo '97 | photo '99), Jay for short.
We live in Melbourne, Victoria, Australia.

We have a cat called Sasha and are now the proud owners of a male German Shepherd, Ubi.

Jay and I first met in December, 1991, at the Meridian Club, a gay venue in Canberra, where I worked part-time as a DJ.
He came up to the DJ box one Saturday night, requesting "I will Survive"; I asked Him out on a date.
He moved in with me in February, 1992 and we've been inseparable since.

We really love being Gay and enjoy our Gay life-style a great deal.
We have many close friends with whom we share many intimate things.

Sometimes though, it's not easy being Gay, as with any minority.
Homophobia and intolerance still persist , consciously and unconsciously - even in the Gay Community.

Jay is a video-game freak; I am an artist - both expensive compulsions.
Jay is also an artist and my teacher.

Jay has a rare disorder, Ramsay Hunt Syndrome Type II (Dyssynergia Cerebellaris Myclonica).

After searching for three years on the Internet we finally found some information about Ramsay Hunt Syndrome Type II.
Jason's disorder is Neurological and his symptoms are myoclonic jerking, body tremor, tension headaches, insomnia, fatigue and anxiety.
He finds a simple act, such as making coffee, difficult, messy and always hazardous.
Cooking and ironing are often too dangerous.
And stress, potentially lethal.

His handwriting is basically illegible so He relies on the computer as His major  tool of communication and learning.
He also has epilepsy and progressive ataxia (co-ordination impairment).

His life is filled with infinite moments of personal and social frustrations.
And, all too often, family and friends forget or just don't understand.

Times spent in Hospitals or in Doctor's Surgeries are too numerous to bother counting.
The many medications, Jay has tested throughout His life to relieve His various symptoms, have often had adverse side-effects.
Some of His medications leave Him very depressed.
Some of His medications leave Him vague and tired.
Some of His medications leave Him feeling stupid and more clumsy.

Yet, He copes with it all.
And, He is my Inspiration, my Muse.
