About the Author Acknowledgements
Dr.M.Ridzuan is an Associate Professor at the Faculty of Economics &
Administration, University of Malaya. He graduated with a Bachelor's
degree in Economics and Statistics in 1970 from the University of Malaya.
with a M.Sc in Computer Science in 1973 from the University of London
and with a Ph.D in Computer and Information Science in 1978 from the
University of Pittsburgh.

Dr.Ridzuan has been in the teaching profession for the past 20 years. He
has taught courses in Mathematics, Statistics and Computer Science to
undergraduate and postgraduate students at the Faculty. In addition to
teaching, he has also written several research papers in computer-related
topics.

His professional affiliation includes membership in The British Computer
Society and The Institute Of Statisticians. He is also a Charactered Engineer
of The Engineering Council (U.K).
 		I would like to gratefully acknowledge the contributions of several people
who have helped me to complete this book. First, much thanks goes to all
of all my students. Their creative ideas, suggestions and feedbacks have
been very helpful.

Second, I would like to convey my heartfelt gratitude to my talented
research assistants, MsSophia Siaw Su Ha, Mr Lok Kai Jin and Mr Wong
Wai Leong. Together, they have contributed immensely towards the
completion of this manuscript. They have weeks patiently and
painstakingly editing the text, checking the program codes, preparing the
index, proofreading and reviewing the manuscript. Needless to say, I
could not have completed writing the book this soon had it not been for
thier admirable diligence and resourcefulness.

Labs, systems programmers generally used the low-lavel assembly
language to develop systems software such as the operating system, the
compiler and the editor.
