As an openly lesbian Christian Pastor, I feel it is time for all God's people who desire to follow Jesus to unite together. For too many years, American Christianity has been given sole authority to determine who is worthy of God's love and grace.

The gay and lesbian community has remained faithful to God, and He has remained faithful to us. Yet, we are still despised by the Christian community and shunned from worship services because we are gay.

We are a strong Christian church, with an outreach to the gay and lesbian community. God is gradually drawing more and more people to this small church and into a relationship with Him. It is our dream and our hope to remain a strong church in which our community can comfortably, and safely lift our hands in praise, together with all of God's people, in His sanctuary.

Many people in our community are afraid to get close to God, because deep inside, there is a fear that they might come across a line of Scripture that says they are disgusting to God. But, God is longing for our people to come to His Word with a spiritual hunger, and to really come to know that it is the only "good news." God's good news is the same for all people - His Word offers life and hope though His plan of salvation, for all of His children.

The gay community has allowed Scripture to pierce us like a sword long enough. All of God's people need the healing balm of His Word. God is ready to heal the "blind spot" in His Church. Our people are now becoming too obvious, too visible to ignore any longer.

God has called my spouse and me to help hurting people in the gay community, and lead them into the abundant life He has planned for them. He has called us, as His Church, to help begin the necessary repairs for the damage that's been done to all those lives. If you believe in our ministry and our outreach to the gay community, we ask you to make a solid commitment to stand with us, with your prayers and financial support.

God has called our community to be "peculiar" - to stand out from the rest of the world - as living proof of His power and His love. It is time to be recognized as children of the living God, and not be pushed aside, like "stepchildren." We are heirs to His throne, and will no longer allow our birthright to be kept from us, by any well-meaning Christians.

Our ministries reach out to the homeless, to people living with AIDS, to seniors in nursing homes, and battered women and children. We publish a monthly newsletter that is mailed to approximately 40 people, and we certainly hope to continue to expand this mailing list.

We are believing in God to open many new doors to share His Good News with the hurting people of our community, who have been told that we are "bad" because we are "different." Our community is unique, and I do believe that we will always support each other.

Are you ready to do whatever is necessary to break the bondages in our community so our people can fully enjoy the life that God has called us all to have? If we do our best to help our people, God will do the rest. I believe that God will bless our efforts.

It is time for God's harvest within our community. Make a solid decision that our community will always have the freedom and a place to worship God, and no longer be "shut out" because we are gay. Today is the day for each of us to begin helping our community to proudly walk with God down paths we have previously been denied, because of our orientation.

In this age when gays and lesbians are committing suicide, and living (and dying) with AIDS, they are in need of love and compassion. We are committed to helping them discover their "freedom" in our Savior, Jesus Christ.

All are welcomed, there are no special requirements to live up to, in order to worship at Your Place of Hope. Come just as you are, and may God bless you,
