Self-Portraits

This was not an official project, I did some self portraits, unassisted, in my spare time during my first semester.  Later on I used these for other projects.

I used a mirror for all of these pictures.  Due to the lack of light I had to manually hold the shutter open for about 4 seconds, meanwhile trying not to move or blink, and in some cases holding the mirror up at the same time.
The hardest part about doing self portraits, using a mirror, not taken directly in front of the mirror is knowing where to be and where to look, since you can't see the camera.  I solved this by setting my camera on a tripod, and then looking through the lens, while holding a stuffed animal about where I'd be in the picture.  Then after focusing the camera I moved over to where I had held the stuffed animal.

Self Portrait #1
This picture was very hard to do because I had the mirror taped up to a second tripod, and I could not see my reflection.  So it took me about 10 minutes to figure out where to sit and look, in order to make it appear as if I were looking directly into the mirror.
Intense
This is one of my favorite self-portraits because of the intensity of the eye.
Another self-portrait
Just a side note, in this photo, my hair is all messed up and  uncombed, it normally doesn't look like that :p
