Timeless Imagery

This was my 5th photo project.  The objective was to produce photographs that look as if they were taken in the past, at least 50 or more years ago.  To achieve this I used natural settings, sepia toning, dodging and burning.

Dried up Creek
I sepia toned this black and white picture I took of a dried up creek, to make it brown, like an old photograph.
A Bridge at Happy Hallow Park
In addition to sepia toning, I "burned" the corners to simulate an old fashioned photograph.

"Burning" is a photo term, it's when you expose part of picture for an extra amount of time, while printing, to make that portion darker.

Japanese Bottles Upon a Stone
The bottles in the picture are antique Japanese bottles used for carrying wine.  I "dodged" this picture to make it appear as if it were taken by an old camera.

"Dodging" is an other photo technique, it's where you cover part of a photo, while printing, to make it lighter and fade out.
