QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPECTATIONS OF THE 1999

MR., MISS, AND MS. GAY WASHINGTON

(1) Applicant must be at least 21 years of age. Valid Identification is required.

(2) Applicant must have been a legal resident of Washington State for at lest one (1) year as of the Friday prior to the Pageant:

(3) Applicant must be prepared to handle the financial obligation of the office including: travel, clothes, tickets, etc

(4) The application must be accompanied by a non-refundable entry fee set at $125.00, which includes admission to the Pageant. This fee must be in cash, money order or cashiers check. Applications must be received with the entry fee no later than 8 PM Friday April 23, 1999, prior to Interviews.

(5) Music for performances must be taped on high quality cassette or CD's and hand delivered to the ballroom rehearsal.

(6) Applicants must be present at the rehearsal for the opening number.

(7) Applicant will be judged by an impartial panel of judges in the following categories:

INTERVIEWS: appearance, poise and service to home Gay community

PAGEANT CATEGORY APPEARANCES, All white "After Six" walk on presentation, Talent performance (3-5 minutes.), Formal Wear, Impromptu Questions.

Applicants will be judged on appearance, poise and creativity.

(8) All questions raised will be settled by a representative of the Board of the Reigning Monarchs of Tacoma, in accordance with the policies governing the Pageant.

(9) Contestant order will be determined immediately prior to interviews by a drawing.

REQUIREMENTS OF MR. MISS, AND MS. GAY WASHINGTON

(1) Must maintain legal residence within the State of Washington for the duration of the reign.

(2) Must join, if not already a member, of their home court.

(3) Must hold two (2) fund-raiser shows during their reign. One in Eastern Washington and one in Western Washington. The proceeds of these shows will go to the Gay Washington Pageant budget.

(4) Must co-host the Out-of-Town show on Friday night of interviews.

(5) Must be present Saturday night throughout the entire Pageant.

EXPECTATIONS OF MR. MISS AND MS. GAY WASHINGTON:

(1) Attend as many Coronations and City title events as possible.

(2) Participate in as many Gay community events as possible including those outside the Court System.

(3) Attend as many Equivalent State Title Events as possible.

(4) Attend the Tacoma Washington Coronation Ball.

(5) To promote the positive side of the Gay/Lesbian lifestyle
