Patrick Greatrex |
'98 |
Midfield |
A man who deleted the word 'quit' from his vocabulary. Left the team for the pastures of Sweden. Patty was a player that never gave up. Coupled with the skills of both a mid fielder and forward, this hybrid bloke pioneered the Greatrex Award from inspiring players on his example alone |
Ray Crilly |
'98 |
Midfield |
A man who added the word 'reproduce' to his vocabulary. Temporarily left the team because of a second child (first born is donated to the team). Rayo returned to the Grangers for a 2000 season, and brought with him the "sugar Ray" qualities for which he is known. Constantly niggling, he often wears a continual yellow card every match |
Barney Hines |
'98 |
Midfield |
Certifiably mad. Barney is a strange, strange individual. A player who had the inspiration to try "anything" and often did full pace dashes of the entire field in an attempt to create something. Where is he now?? Last we heard it was western oz but he's probably chasing U.F.O's. |
Mark Robertson |
'98 |
Defender |
Provided us with our only sponsor. We could have done with an Away strip though. |
Troy Nowitski |
'99 |
Midfield |
Runski was Runski. An apprentice of mark and eroys, runski pioneered the grangers drinking game and the wombat dance of legend. A great talker (never shut up) and top player when attacking he constantly provided the grangers with amusement |
Fred Gwynn |
'99 |
Midfield |
Freddo, or Mighty Gwynn as he was called, was the founder of the Grangers Groupies, a gang of 4 mates who wanted to be like the grangers. Two particular groupies, Griffo and Louver as I am led to believe, instigated a pitch invasion during the 99 grand finals. |
Rafal Zakraewski |
'99 |
Defence |
As a defender, Raf was a great lawyer. Nicknamed "The Battleship" by merrick because of the fact that that when beaten by a player he took ages to turn and chase, his manouvreability was at best bad. But what he lacked in agility he more than made up for in fouls. Also know as "the hacker" by mark and eroy, raf dished out great pain to any ankle that strayed too close…even his own team, mates |
