70 Minutes:

The Gladys Perry cup has never known such excitement. With only 10 minutes remaining on the clock the ball was played out of midfield and a great opportunity opened up for Sporting Club kiosk to take advantage of the situation and play the ball square.

71 Minutes:

With the ball intercepted by the opposition, the suspense grew and the stoic defence were forced to retrace their steps and play the waiting game of attrition and attack. Who would eventually win this game of finely poised risk was at this point still a mystery. The lines-man continued to learn the rules.

72 Minutes:

The new right wing substitute for Sporting Club Kiosk picked up the ball and carried it heroically out of defence, first past one opposing attacker, then another, neatly around the midfield. Charging ever forward, guns to the left of him, guns to the right of him. Ignoring calls to pass the ball true distance was achieved. In a game of American football this would be considered a considerable amount of territory gained.

73 Minutes:

Ball in touch, the crowds hold their breath. The Sporting Club midfielder flicks the last remaining drops of blood from his battered nose. Tension rises.

74 Minutes:

Opposition win the ball and attack. With only a few minutes remaining the crowd and the team expect a goal to be conceeded. All eyes turn to the towering centre back, will he make the tackle, will he bury the previous weeks memory of mishap and shame ? Ball won, ball cleared. Final execution delayed.

75 Minutes:

Sporting Club Kiosk counter. The ball is carried forward and passed between midfielders, first once then twice. Crossed across the face of goal, heroic right winger collects and wins corner for Kiosk. Can they finally finish the job. The captain steps up to take.

76 Minutes:

Captain kicks the ball low to the near post and off the foot of heroic and well placed right winger. Ball ricochets to left back who strikes. Hard and low the ball hurtles towards the Dogs Home Goal.

77 Minutes:

Cleared off the line and knocked back down field to the opposition attack. Fear on the face of Kiosk, fear on the face of supporter. Fear on the face of linesman.

78 Minutes:

Dogs Home yet again blast high and wide. Germanic Kiosk keeper looks confifdent. As yet truly untested, his confidence may be unfounded. Just two minutes to go, no one would still bet against a Kiosk loss. Earlier filled pothole bearing up, but grass in surrounding area beginning to wilt.

79 Minutes:

Possibility of Kiosk win finally begins to cross everyones mind. Happiness of some is already preparing to be overshadowed by discontent of others. Whilst the ball is held in midfield, the great victory is already being pictured on the Web Page in glorious technicolour on Monday morning. This lovely vision, whilst expected by many is warped and distorted in the mind of its eventual creator.

80 Minutes:

Kiosk win. As the celebrations start the Web Page begins to look a far off possibility. Was this game won at the expense of a far greater loss. It would be Thursday by the earliest before anything would appear. And then would it reflect the glory of the few, or the discontent of the fewer. Lines man congratulated by referee. Will fine for first aid kit be imposed ?
