Pleat Dismisses Talk Of Transfers
Director of Football David Pleat has denied reports that Tim Sherwood will re-join Blackburn and Les Ferdinand will be sold to Brescia.
Speculation has risen in recent weeks over the future of the Tottenham duo, with weekend reports claiming that Rovers boss Graeme Souness has made a bid to bring Sherwood back to Ewood Park.
Pleat denies that Sherwood will make a return to Lancashire, despite reports that Blackburn are set to offer him a £1m promotion bonus. In fact, Pleat blames Sherwood's agent Eric Hall for the speculation, and he commented: "We have had no contact at all from Blackburn Rovers. This looks like a case of a monster, monster agent trying to make monster, monster mischief."
Meanwhile, Italian club Brescia remain keen to Ferdinand, despite Pleat's constant claims that the former England international striker will not be allowed to leave White Hart Lane. The Serie A outfit sent a delegation of officials to White Hart Lane at the weekend and are clearly keen on luring him to Italy.
But Pleat says that Ferdinand, who has been offered a new contract, isn't going anywhere unless he chooses to leave at the end of the season.
"There is nothing happening. We have sent Brescia a fax telling them that Les is not for sale," said Pleat.
Meanwhile reports suggest that Sol Campbell has snubbed a megabucks move to Turkish side Besiktas, who were ready to offer him a lucrative contract but the player wasn't prepared for a massive change in lifestyle.
However Campbell is believed to be ready to stay in England when his contract with Spurs expires at the end of the season.
The England international has indicated that he will talk to the club's new owners about staying at White Hart Lane, but with Fulham, Bayern Munich, Valencia, Arsenal, Chelsea and Manchester United all interested Campbell is likely to explore all his avenues.
