Fantasy Football Rules
$60 entry fee will also cover software costs ($65.) This is due on draft day. Fred will collect for Savannah teams. Mark will collect for Atlanta teams.
In past years, we have conducted a draft with rotating picks. Some say this favors the early pickers who can than get the marquee players. This year we will have an auction. With an auction, each team has an equal shot at every player. Build your team with all UGA players if you like! 16 players will be signed by each team with a salary cap of $160 fantasy money. Lots will be drawn to determine selection order. Team which chooses first nominates any player they like. Minimum bid is $1. All bids must be in whole dollar increments. This gives every team an average of $10 for each player signed. Any team may bid on players nominated. After the first player has been won by a team, the next team in line nominates another player, etc. If you nominate a player and no other team bids on him, your team gets the player for whatever your opening bid was. If a team fills out their roster before the others, his team no longer nominates or bids on players. After all teams have filled out their rosters, the auction is over and free agency starts.
Free agents will be available starting 9/5/98 at noon. Any emails before that time will be ignored. After the auction is over, each team will get another $10 added to their salary cap for a total of $170. Free agents will cost $3 each.
Free agent pickups will be handled on a first come/first serve basis via email. Whichever email the commissioner receives first will be processed.
Any players dropped by a team during the season may not be picked up again in the future. Traded players may be reacquired.
Trades will also be regulated by auction and free agent pricing. Any trades must keep both teams under the cap. No trading after week 8 of the season. All trades must be approved by the commissioner. This prevents bogus trades like Terrell Davis for Bucky Richardson.
There will be no injury status for players. If you have a player injured and you want to keep him, he stays on your roster and counts toward your salary cap.
All teams will sign 2 Quarterbacks, at least 2 Running Backs, at least 3 Wide Receivers/Tight Ends, 2 Kickers, 2 Defensive Teams, and 5 more at any position.
After the auction, all teams have no restrictions other than salary cap on the size of their rosters.
Starting lineups will have 1 QB, 2 RBs, 3 WR/TEs, 1 K, and 1 DT.
All lineups for any players playing on a given day are due via email to the commissioner and your opponent by 9AM of game day. This covers the special game days like Thanksgiving Thursday. If you have no players playing, no lineup is necessary. Lineups will be posted by 11AM every Sunday. If a team has a bye player or a player listed as 'out' on the NFL injury report in their lineup, the highest dollar value available player on their team will be played instead.
The fantasy season will run 14 weeks with two weeks of playoffs. The auction selection order will determine matchups in the fantasy schedule. The schedule is on the Fantasy Schedule page. I will update this page with real team names after the auction is over.
There will be two divisions of five teams each - Even and Odd teams. Top two records from each division make the playoffs. Ties will be decided by total points. Playoff seeds by total points during season.
Money payouts will be as follows:
$600 total money minus $65 for software = $535
$5 per week to high point total for week. 14 x $5 = $70
$5 to winner of toilet bowl (3rd and 4th place teams) Played during week 15
$60 to second place winner overall
$400 to overall winner
