• 7/8/98 TRADE:  Erkelenz receives Fred Lane, RB, CAR  ---   Minnesota receives Jamal Anderson, RB, ATL and Leslie Shepherd, WR, WAS.
• 7/8/98 TRADE:  Minnesota receives Natrone Means, RB, SD  ---   Tennessee receives Pete Mitchell, TE, JAX.
• 7/10/98 TRADE:  Pacific receives draft selections 2.05, 3.05, 3.09, and 4.05  ---  High Plains receive draft selections 1.06, 7.06, 8.06, and 9.06.
• 7/13/98 TRADE:  College Station Heat receives Natrone Means, RB, SD  ---  Minnesota Muskies receives Rickey Dudley, TE, OAK.
• 7/13/98 TEAM RELOCATION:  College Station Heat have relocated to Bakersfield to become the Bakersfield Heat.
• 7/13/98 TRADE:  Pacific Marauders receives Erik Kramer, QB, CHI   ---  Phoenix Scorpions receive draft selections 2.06 and 6.06.
• 7/20/98 TRADE:  Orange Park Raiders receive Eddie George, RB, TEN and draft selection 4.08  ---  Carolina Tigers receive (Terry Allen, RB, WAS), (Charlie Garner, RB, PHI), and draft selection 5.09.
• 7/22/98 TRADE:  High Plains Drifters receive selections 4.07, 6.07, 8.07, and Minnesota Muskies 1999 2nd round selection.  ---  Minnesota Muskies receive Wesley Walls and selections 7.05, 7.06, and High Plains Drifters 1999 4th round selection.
• 8/1/98 TRADE:  Minnesota Muskies receives Phoenix Scorpions 1999 1st and 4th round selections.  Phoenix Scorpions receive Wesley Walls and Minnesota Muskies 1999 8th and 9th round selections.
