Bypassing Car
Locks
Guide by: scuzzy-elo 2003
Introduction
If you are not
able to purchase your own set of car opening accessories then
building your own is the best idea correct? In this guide, I will
discuss how to make and use devices to bypass car locks.
Materials
Coat hangers
Pliers
Ruler
Wooden block (4 x
2 x 1 in)
Thin flexible
plastic band
A small bit of
string
Tool Creation
I will now
discuss the creation of several different tools.
Wedges
Take the block of
wood and simple cut it diagonally across the side making two long
wedges.
Wonder Tool
Take one coat
hanger and bend it out as straight as possible using your pliers
but leaving the hook part for a handle. The handle will be 2 ½ in
from the top of the bend. Now make a bend about 18 ½ in from the
bottom of the handle so that the hanger is in a V shape. Next,
bend the end of the hanger about 11 ½ in from the first bend
making a crude N shape. Now bend that side so that the very end
tip of the coat hanger points inward toward the rest of the
hanger. You should have a handle, followed by a long straight end
with a bend at the bottom, followed by a slightly shorter long
piece with a bend at the top, and followed by a shorter curved
piece with a tip pointing inward.
Note
For better
results, widen the second bend just a little bit so that the tip
pointing in is about 1 ½ in away from the hanger.
Slim Jim
Take one coat
hanger and bend it out completely straight. Now break off a length
of wire 21-22 in with the hook part attached to one end (not
included in measurement). Now bend the end without the hook so
that it looks like a long L with a short base that slants down.
Make the bent end about1 ½ in long. Now bend that length so that
it makes an open triangle. It should look something like this only
upside down:
|\ OPEN TRIANGLE
| | | | (_ HANDLE
Lock Lift
Take the length
of plastic strip and cut a length about 40 in long and 1 in wide.
Take the whole thing and loop it directly in the middle Now take
this loop and bend it in the middle so that the ends meet the top
of the first loop. Now hold it in the middle and you should have
an 8 shape. Take your little bit of string and tie it so that the
plastic stays in this 8 shape.
Note
Do not bend or
flatten the loops. They need to stay wide and open to work
properly.
Procedures
Now I will
explain how to use these tools to open a car door.
Wonder Tool
The wonder tool
is used when the window of the car is up.
Take one of your
wedges and wedge it between the weather stripping and window of
the car making a gap between them. Now, slide the wonder tool in
flat against the window and slide it all the way down until the
handle is the only thing sticking out. Next, twist the wonder tool
toward the interior of the car firmly and pull up. The second bend
of the wonder tool should pop up inside the car with the window in
between the handle and the second bend. Now, twist the wonder tool
so that it is pointing inward with the hook pointing toward the
car door. Slide the tool down so that it clasps the interior of
the door. Slide it over toward the lock and maneuver it in one of
two ways.
1. Catch the hook
onto the lock and pull it up.
2. Catch the hook
onto the lock and slide it over.
Maneuver it until
the lock clicks and unlocks. Now remove the wonder tool and open
the door.
Notes
The hardest part
is getting the second half of the tool inside the car.
For better
results, pull the tool all the way up against the bottom of the
glass once the second half is inside the car.
Slim Jim
The slim jim can
be used in three ways. Opening a car with the window up, opening
the car with a window up and one wedge, or opening the car with
the window cracked a little.
Procedure 1
Slide the slim
jim down between the weather stripping of the car and the window
at about a 105 degree angle with the hooked bottom pointing toward
the keyhole. Lower it down until only the handle is sticking out
and slide it over toward the lock until you hit an obstruction.
Keep the slim jim pressed against the obstruction and slide it up
until the hook grasps the obstruction. Pull up firmly on it and
the door will unlock.
Notes
I don’t think
this will work on sliding locks however, there are other ways to
open a door with sliding locks. (i.e. the wonder tool)
Procedure 2
Take one wedge
and wedge it between the car door and the top or side of the car
until there is a cap with a hole that you can see into the
interior of the car with. Slide the slim jim in and direct it
toward the lock button. Maneuver it to either raise the lock
button, or slide the lock button over.
Notes
Depending on
where the lock button is, the position of your wedge will vary.
Your method will
also be different depending on what type of lock you are opening.
It should be very easy to figure out when you look at it through
the window.
Procedure 3
This is one of
the easiest methods. Some people leave their windows cracked a
little so that their car doesn’t get hot.
Hold your slim
jim firmly in one hand, so as not to drop it inside, and slide
your hand into the cracked window. Angle the slim jim toward the
lock button and maneuver it with one of the techniques mentioned
in procedure 2.
Notes
If you think your
hand will get stuck in the crack, grab onto the edge with both
hands and pull down on it a bit. It won’t come down much further
but just enough for you to get your hand in.
Lock Lift
This tool is used
to open a lock with a button that sticks up next to the window
like a golf tee.
Take one wedge
and wedge it between the door and the side of the car so that
there is a hole that you can see into the inside of the car with.
The wedge should be about 1 ½ in above the top of the lock button.
Slide one loop of the tool through the hole and loop it over the
lock button. Pull it tight with one of the strips on one side to
that it is tightly around the button. Pull the entire loop tight
and raise it up until the lock releases. Pull out the wedge and
open the door.
