AUSSIE HOME LOANS CUP FINAL
Palm Beach Goes Down In Thriller

Palm Beach Currumbin High School narrowly missed creating Cup history today when it lost a gripping final to Sydney school Terra Sancta at Sydney Football Stadium.

The Gold Coast side suffered a setback after just five minutes when lock and new Penrith NRL signing Blake Henzell was hurt. He remained on the field, but was obviously impeded by the injury. Then in the second half five-eighth Ben Davis was taken from the field also injured.

QSSRL delegate David Seeley said it was a great effort from Palm Beach, but that a few things went against them. As standout players he nominated captain and hooker Zac West, Nathan Jordan and Adam Innes. The Queenslanders led 6-4 at the break, but Terra ultimately took the AHL trophy 16-14.

Palm Beach won their place in the national final by beating Ingham's Abergowrie College in the Queensland final, then accounting for Parramatta Marist in a national semi-final.

Had Palm Beach won, they would have been the first Queensland side to win this 25-year-old national school competition. Aussie Home Loans have announced that they will not be sponsoring this competition next year.
