Whybirds
for Footy Show?
Are Cairns' Whybird brothers, Tony and
Scott, about to score television fame
via the Footy Show? Following his appearance on the premiere
episode of WIN
Television's Kickoff footy show
recently, talk is rife that a new television career
could be in the making for Cairns' league icon Tony Whybird. And
brother Scott
looks like being swept up in the whirl of fame as well.
Unnamed
sources claim that in the hallowed halls of television land plans
are
afoot to replace the Footy Show's Mario Fenech and Blocker Roach
with the
Whybird brothers. It is believed the upper echelon have been
looking for new faces
for some time, and that Tony's appearance impressed those that
make the decisions.
Tony and Scott are not too fussed, conceding they are natural
talents.
Scott reckons he and his brother will dress in drag, if the price
is right.
Back
in the real world, WIN should be congratulated for its efforts to
cater to the
interests of junior and country rugby league around Australia. It
was very pleasing
in the first episode to see the segment on the Peninsula regional
championships,
which acted as selection trials for the State carnivals. Tony
Whybird made his
mark when interviewed as Peninsula coach. It is believed he was
the reluctant hero,
big brother Scott being seen to shove him in front of the camera.
The talented duo
are certain to be used to the max by QSSRL, before they are lost
to Channel Nine.
'Kickoff'
can be seen Sundays at noon on WIN.
