IT'S ON AGAIN!
MAROONS vs BLUES
Updated Sunday 13th June                                                        By Milton Bristow

In the midst of State of Origin fever come two other games pitting "state against
state" which, although receiving far less media coverage, will lack nothing in the
intensity and rivalry which have made the Origin series such a popular concept.

Traditional rivals Queensland Secondary Schools and New South Wales Combined
High Schools will lock horns again in interstate "tests" in both Open and 15 Years
age groups, en route to the respective national championship carnivals. The Maroon
squads were selected at the state carnivals last month at Wynnum and Rockhampton.

The 15 Years "test" will take place at Redcliffe Dophins RLFC on Tuesday
22 June, at 7.00pm.
The opposing teams will then travel to Darwin for
the national championships which will be held from 27 June - 2 July.

The
Opens test will be at First Provincial Oval Ipswich, on Wednesday
30 June at 7.00pm.
These teams will then go on to Tweed Heads for the
Open national championships, which are being staged from 4 July - 9 July.

Two former Australian Schoolboys will guide the Queensland Open team for
their campaign at Tweed Heads. Coach Rod Patison was vice-captain of the first
Australian Schoolboys in 1972, while team trainer Scott Czislowski toured
England and France with the 1979 Australian Schoolboys.
