PENINSULA REPORT

Activity in the Peninsula Region has been very limited due to the weather. Schools on the Tablelands have been able to continue with their competitions but unfortunately games in coastal regions could not start until after Easter.

The Peninsula selection Trials were held in Mareeba on the 16th April in both U15 and U18 divisions. Interest was shown from remote communities for the carnival. Players came from Weipa, Bamaga and Cooktown to try for Peninsula selection. We try to keep the links open to the remote areas who love playing Rugby League but sometimes have difficulty with travel.

With this season being so harsh to us, maybe we should hope for rain at this year's state championships. At least we have had heaps of practice playing in it. I will have more news as we get some footy being played in the school comp. The team to represent Peninsula at the Commonwealth Bank Open State Championships is listed below.
