Previous Clubs: Have been at Real Madrid all his life, played for B and C team since he was 11 years old.

Contract with Real Madrid: 30 Juni 2003

Primera League debut: 2 December 1995, Real Madrid 4 - 1 Sevilla. Came to Real Madrid when he was 11 years old, recruted from his school team at La Gaviota, in Torrejón (north-east of Madrid). Guti has played for every team at the club. Had a loan spell at Egea (then in the 2nd division). Guti Received his debut in 1995 when Jorge Valdano was at the helm.

Guti can sometimes seem very similar to Redondo in his style of play, and has on several occasions been accused of trying to immitate Redondo by the media (not that it is a bad thing), apparently the hair style that Guti has, have been one of the reasons for such writing by journalist. Anyhow he do have very good skills and technical ability not has good as Redondo but with Redondo gone only Cambiasso (on loan to Independiente season 2000/01) can match the skills of Guti. Guti was accused early on to be to lazy but seemingly having Redondo as his mentor has seen Guti's work-rate in midfield improving dramatically the last 2/3 seasons. He now fights for every ball in midfield and seem to have no fear for his own health in man to man tackles.
