SOME
HISTORY
I started my journeys
in the "elite" universe 10 years ago, when ELITE was first released
on the Commodore 64. (Elite was first released on the BBC computer in 1984)
Back then the game was easily the best available. The depth of the game
was phenomenal, given the limit of 64k of RAM. I played it till my eyes
were sore, and then I played some more. Eventually I got to be "elite".
This required many hundreds of hours of playing time, every one of them
enjoyable. The only downer was that there was nothing left to achieve.
If anyone out there knows what I COULD have done once I was elite, please
let me know. Otherwise I'll just have to ask God when I get to heaven (along
with a lot of other things).
Then came Frontier; the long awaited sequel. In those days I was a poverty stricken student with no PC of my own. I saw Frontier on a friend's computer, but couldn't get into it myself. All this was remedied once I started working. I now own a PC and a copy of the third game in the elite series: "Frontier First Encounters". I have spent many hours playing it.

MY
FFE PROGRESS SO FAR:
I'm currently not playing
FFE due to the "Your're going to regret dealing with..." bug.
I was doing the Thargoid missions. I have the Argents Quest, with 20 shield
generators and a large plasma accelerator. I've destroyed the defense satellite.
I'm travelling back to Sol where I got the missile to "face the music".
From there it's back to Alioth to start on getting myself a Thargoid ship!
It's jolly exciting to say the least. I haven't played for a while, but
I will go back again one day.
Here is a photo of the wrecked Turner's Quest I took while I was collecting it's flight recorder:

PICTURES OF FRONTIER FIRST ENCOUNTERS
This one is a Thargoid ship.
This was my last ship - a beautiful Imperial Courier

This is my current ship - the Argents Quest. What a beauty!

LINKS
Here are a few excellent
FFE pages with a lot's of useful info:
Case's
Frontier First Encounters Page - Comprehensive page with all the
info you need to make the most of FFE. I'm told the "bulletin board"
has been removed, which is unfortunate. If you have questions I will do
my best to answer them (see the email address below)
Mission
Information - I pilfered everything I could find on the handcoded
missions from other sites and put it all into this file for downloading
(27k .txt)
Additional
Information - General info and Thargoid mission info. Thanks to
Justin Andrews for this contribution. (6k .txt)

WHERE
DO I GET A COPY?
I wish I could say it
was easy. Unfortunately FFE is getting a tad old. It also got some bad
reviews when it first came out due to the bugs it had.
Gametek
- These guys made the game, but they stopped selling it.
Jade's Page
- May be able to assist.

Interviews with David Braben after
the release of FFE indicated that both add ons and a sequel would be released
in the future. Many people have emailed me asking whether I had heard anything
more. Unfortunately, I haven't.
As far as I can tell, Gametek were so scared off by the flak they
received over the bugs in FFE that they have no intentions of producing
a sequel. It's a crying shame, because I have no doubt it would sell
like hotcakes.
The solution? A fan produced sequel. It's called The Elite Project "TEP". You can read about it at Jade's site.
I like the idea, but have neither the time nor the programming skills to create it myself. However, I am happy to organise it. What I need is programmer or two (C++, with Direct X) with the know how and desire. I also need IDEAS! Ideas for missions, ship names, background stories. The new game would be in the Elite universe, but we'd have to ensure copyright is not breached, so the concepts have to be totally original. It would have to be freeware or shareware, to ensure that no one makes money out of it.
If you can help with programming or ideas please EMAIL me: mailto:[email protected]

If you want any further info, or just want to swap notes with another commander then email me.
Thanks to all those visitors who've provided info and feedback for this page. I will continue to improve it as I get more ideas.
Please read the "mission information" in the links section above, before emailing me, as this will answer many people's questions.
