So You Want to Know Something About Me?Though I'm not sure why you would care, I will tell you what I know. I am a follower of Jesus Christ. That means that I listen to and attempt to apply His teachings to my life. Thus, I attempt live a life that doesn't tarnish His reputation. In the process, I make mistakes and stumble upon a few successes, but all glory is intended for God. I am merely a laborer in a vast field of souls. He owns the vineyard and takes care of all the business details. Through faith in Christ, I have been rescued from sin, death, Hell, and various other plagues of society. Though I am by no means perfect, I am forgiven, and because of that, I have confidence that my future is brighter than the stars of the skies. This is the promise of my Savior. While waiting for the next stage of eternity, I have a few things that keep me busy. For example, I am a student at the University of Tennessee where I am a Bicentennial Scholar in the UT honors program studying music theory and composition. Here, God has granted me the inspiration and dedication to produce some music that other people have enjoyed. You can read about the details and see (as well as print, hear, and purchase) some of the results here. (If you are interested in my current Curriculum Vitae, Composition List, Biographical Sketch, or other information, please email me.) Next spring, Lord willing, I will begin an assistantship through the UT School of Music Choral Conducting program. I have also been very active in the University of Tennessee Baptist Collegiate Ministry. Over the past few years, I have served in various positions on the Leadership Team, including one year as President. I am also very active in John Sevier Baptist Church. There, I worship through teaching a youth Sunday school class, playing the piano, sharing the gospel, acting in and directing various dramatic works, and participating in many other activities. Through JSBC and the UT BCM, God has given me opportunities to minister to three nations, five states, two provinces, and a protectorate. When I'm not working with the church or studying, I enjoy listening to music (for links to some of my favorite musicians' websites, click here), teaching, cooking, eating, working out, and photography. However, in everything I do, I always attempt to point to the reason for it all. Through music, I share my testimony. Through photography, I show those whom God has changed as well as His creation and inspiration. Through cooking and eating, I can praise God for the joy of food (You know, He could have chosen to feed us with vitamin-packed pellets taken with water. I'm thankful He allows us to use our taste buds, instead.) Through exercise, I meet people, and through the resulting relationships, God can call someone unto Himself. This is the reason I live, and the reason God allows me to continue in that endeavor. When He is finished here, so am I. Until then, I'm just spending the spiritual capital that He has invested in me. So, now you know a whole lot more about me than you ever planned to ask. |
