Mr. And Mrs. John P. Jarvis in 1987, at their 40^th wedding anniversary. My father passed away the following year, in May, at the age of 84; my mother still resides in Georgetown and is in good health.

In The Adventure of the Final Problem, by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, Dr. Watson describes Sherlock Holmes as "… him whom I shall ever regard as the best and wisest man whom I have ever known". That pretty much sums up how I feel about the man in this photograph.

My mother is a wonderful person with a zest for life, still learning new things and helping others at the age of … well, a little over 39. She's an example to us all, and I love her very much.
