So last week I was robbed. :-( I left my bookbag in my class for a few moments and someone swiped it. The next day I received an email from a sysadmin at the university saying that it had been abandoned in a men's washroom and when I went to pick it up, all my money and my textbook was gone. Fortunately I didn't have any credit cards or anything, and all my ID and notes, etc. were left intact. Still, my textbook was brand-new and had cost me $117. This does not result in a happy Meri. I mean, I'm generally a positive person and I really believe in the goodness of people as a whole, so when this kind of thing happens it really throws me for a loop. I spent the whole next day glaring at random men in the hallways on campus thinking, "You could have been the one who swiped my stuff, you bastard!" (censored version) I really feel like I understand what people mean when they are stolen from and they say they feel violated. That is how I feel; I mean, my stuff is still around, minus my text and cash, but I almost don't want to touch it because it feels tainted somehow... knowing that someone was rooting through my things to find valuables. It's really disturbing. ::sighs:: Oh well, I'll get over it.
Okay, I had the good fortune to catch the Entertainment Tonight feature on *NSYNC the other day, in which they showed clips from their upcoming McDonald's commercial with Britney Spears. No, I didn't catch the clips shown on Access Hollywood (or whatever show it was). But here are my thoughts anyway. I am the first to admit that when I heard about the commercial they were filming I rolled my eyes and let loose with a string of profanities (a phenomenon not unheard of when dealing with *NSYNC, particularly of late. But I digress). BUT... these clips were SO freaking hilarious. If you are one of the people who hasn't heard about this, let me tell you what I saw:
The point is, I no longer care if *NSYNC are merchandising whores (this time). I can't wait to see the entire commercial, and yes, I am going to go to CrapDonald's and buy their video, and (not) their CD (I heart you, Napster). The end.
Not much to say on this one. This is what I like to call "Reason #98745987 why Lance and I are perfect together"*
*Um, yeah, I know I ain't gettin' any of that Bass, okay? I still do have a firm grip on reality. Thanks.
So the other day (a couple of days, actually) Lance was on AOL. LOL. Nope, not under 'IMPOOFU'. Yes, I know that it really was him. Anyhoo, after some prodding from friends, I IM-ed him. Ah am a loo-hoo-ser. Needless to say, he didn't respond. My broken heart will mend, though. Ha. Then a day or so later I got into one of my particularly emotional *NSYNC-loving moods (I like to call them my "oh, my poor babies!" moments), and I emailed him. Again, not under 'IMPOOFU'. Here is what I wrote. (I'll probably be putting this up under "Open Letters" in a few days)
Remember Always...
...your real fans do not care about your sexuality...
...they simply want you to be happy.
...they want you to be well.
...your real fans pray for you daily.
...and those who do not, keep you in their thoughts.
...your real fans would be your friends if they could.
...they would accept you as you are, if they knew who
you really were.
...your real fans know you have been changed by your
career.
...they grieve for your lost innocence.
...they rejoice for your captured dreams.
...they take pride in your accomplishments.
...they envy your enormous personal strength...
...and wish that you did not have to be so strong to
survive in this cruel profession.
...your real fans do not love you, as the posters and
signs proclaim...
...but they know that you are easy to love.
=====
...this real fan does not need a response...
...but hopes that you'll let her know if this reaches
you anyways.
To date, no response. I didn't expect one anyway.
