"Circle of Confusion"
From my journal:
It is
another slow beginning. Yesterday was so rushed, but with nothing to show for
the effort. Well, not a whole lot. A few things here and there got tended to,
but that is how it went. I spent my attention here, then there. As soon as
another thought came up, I went. Down with the old (of momentary import) and up
with the new (of expedient concern). Six minutes later, something came knocking
at my door. "Hi... I’m Blue." "I just came out of it."
...and then the situation had changed once again.
On it went, throughout the day. Just like that. Work piled up
here. Work piled up there. Soon there was work in progress everywhere. The
stacks of paper took on a life of their own. And I could swear I heard whispers
under stack number 17 and 22. Collaboration! That’s what was happening. A
conspiracy to deform. Transformation was well underway as the whispers were
joined by a murmur or three. My own thoughts joined in this blending of
dementia, mixing and hiding the truth of the matter. A call to action... false
alarm. A rustling in the corner. Only imagination. Was that a creak or a groan
just to my left. No! It’s there on the right, behind that chair. Whipping it
away, I reveal a tranquil corner. "I am innocent!" the solitary
Dust Bunny cries. "It was pile number 36 and book 42 that sent me
here," it pleaded with wavering voice, "don’t blame me, I’m
in the dark!" Turning quickly I caught a shudder, then watched in
horror as they all crashed down. Books and papers and bills and receipts, mixing
and tumbling all over my feet. Down from my desk and onto the floor. Only the
waste baskets stood tall and ready. "Use me you fool, and clean this
mess up," demanded the business model, while the one in the kitchen
began tapping it’s foot. The room began to spin, and pulling itself down. The
paperwork reached for and caught my feet. In no time at all my hands were tied. "Good
God, what went wrong?" were my last words as I sank.
"If you won’t manage your paperwork, then your
paperwork must manage you," came the reply as I drifted to black. Just
then I woke up, with my head on my keyboard. I looked around and saw piles of
work, waiting to be done. Deja Vu?

JOKES?
A woman, trailed by a dozen kids, was crossing
the street against the light. A driver swerved to keep from hitting part
of the mob and yelled at the woman, "Hey, don't you know when to
stop?"
The woman made a wry face and answered, "They're not
all mine!"

As Moses said to God, "Let me see if I have it right - the Arabs get the oil and we get the right to cut off the tips of our what?"
