.Arizona legend tells us that in the late 1800's, a band of Apache indian warriors leapt off the great buttes of a mountain now known as the Apache leap. It is said that the warriors squaws sat at the base of this great mountain and cried, as they watched their brave warriors leap to their deaths, and ultimately freedom, in order to avoid capture by the calvary. The legend goes on to say that the tears hardened and turned black as they fell from the squaws faces and down to the earth, thus lending us today what is now known as THE APACHE TEARS...... | ||||||||||||||||

PHYSICAL COMPOSITION > The black stones known as Apache Tears are a form of obsidian, (volcanic glass) and are usually smoky black and translucent. COMPOSITION: volcanic, amorphous, siliceous, glassy rock. HOHS HARDNESS: 5.5 1/2 SPECIFIC GRAVITY: 2.3 TO 2.5 This stone reportedly relieves grief and aids in understanding the cause of grief. It is often used to stimulate insight into areas of disturbance within yourself or your surroundings, and is said to aid one in giving and accepting forgiveness.
