-
Put
your stuff near the Street. No one wants to walk down/up to you.
-
Have
Black, White and Sparkly things for the guys to view, women seem to look at
colors more when approaching a garage sale.
-
Position
things spread out so it looks like there are more to sell. People tend not
to stop if it looks like there is not much to choose from.
-
Price low to
move. Put tags on items. People don't like to ask too many questions unless
in a negotiating mood. A garage is not meant to make a profit on items, you
just want to get rid of it.
-
Put jewelry in
bags.
-
Place signs at
intersections and make sure they are mounted properly so to withstand the
wind. Post a flyer at your grocery store of any local point of people
traffic. Put signs in the rest of the neighborhood so all points get
traffic.
-
Display
Clothes. Try not to put in yard or driveway without nice presentation.
-
A Balloon,
Flashy Object or even a Teddy Bear can attract visitors if attached to the
mail box.
-
Use tables,
workhorses or almost anything to put sale items above the ground to get
people in and out faster and great presentation.
-
Neighborhood
garage sales get more traffic. It's a volume thing.
-
Do your garage
sale in cool weather. March, April, September and October are great.
-
Some items
that are more expensive can be put on classifieds
sites and sell better than putting it in with garage sale items. Use a
camera to scan a photo of the object to put on a classifieds site.
