Free
list on Return and Recyclables to the Earth
Cans/Bottles/Paper
- Cans can be returned to
your neighborhood Waste Management to be recycled or collected and
returned to a local recycling center like Alcoa or in the yellow pages
under "recycling". Find
One!!
Food
- almost 100% of your food can
be recycled. Some of the these can be tilled under, thrown in your garden
or put in a compost/mulching pile. Some examples are egg shells,
banana/orange peals (orange peals -can be used as firewood if dried),
small fruit and vegetables
Food
- Left-overs for the animals -
use your left overs to feed the animals like Bread ends for (Birds/Ducks),
Corn (Birds/Squirrels), Peanut Butter (Birds), Peanuts (Squirrels/Birds)
and Banana's (Birds) to nibble on. Can you think of any other food for
your animals friends.
Clothes
- Clothes can of course be sold
through a garage sale (mark down - don't try to be a one day Wal Mart
making a profit. It will come from reducing your items to almost nothing)
Clothes can be turned in to a "Nearly New Shop" for the vendor
to take a cut in the sale of your items. Any small pieces of clothing say
underwear, torn shirts and old wash clothes can be used to wash the car
many times before being thrown out.
Software
- Old diskettes can be turned in to a local charity or Non-Profit
Organization. They can also be brought to work for those people who can
never find a diskette. CD software can be turned over the same way. Find a
charity now. Find
One!!
Oil
- Automotive oil can be recycled via an oil change and Tune Up shop. Some
may have sign on the exterior showing they recycle. Most Tune-up shop
recycle your oil if you get serviced there. However, establish a
relationship with the shop so they will except your oil. A tip may be
needed since the shop may not know you as a customer.. Find
One!!
Pine straw -
If you don't like pine straw in your yard, your neighbor make like some .
When putting your Pine straw in garbage bags on the street, please label
"Free Pine Straw". It will help your neighbor and you get free
trash pickup. If you have a lot of Pine straw you could put a sign at the
mailbox and sell it. The Gardeners usually sell it $2.00+ a bail. Mark and
it down and still make a profit from your yard trash.
Grass
Clippings/Yard Waste -
Grass from the lawn mower can be thrown in the garden to keep down weeds,
tilled under for fertilizer and put in that washed away hole to stop erosion.
Dead Flowers and potted plants soil can be used the same way. They create
great fertilizer and build up the soil level.
Books
- Old Books can be sold at a
garage sales, charity functions, given to Public or School libraries or
passed on to children who enjoy reading.. Find
One!!
Toys
- Toys can be sold at a garage sale, turned into the local churches,
hospitals (if sterilized) and given to family friends with children.
Water
- If you live in an area of high humidity and you have an air-condition
you can get 3-8 gallons of water a day free from the run-off hose. Simply
dig it out form under your unit and put in a watering can. This is great
when your area is under water restrictions. You can water and not worry
about it.
