She is a big-eyed girl with the bee-stung lips

And reminds me of the cartoon character Betty Boop

Betty is out of some balsam pine I found on the curb after Hurricane Georges

He was inspired by a scene in the movie "Seven Years In Tibet"

He is out of magnolia

"You Dirty Rat"

This was meant to be a wall-mounted walkingstick holder

But it didn't work out, because it stuck out too far from the wall

Even though it failed, I can't throw it away for I like its looks

He was meant to be the center piece for my front door with an arch of grapevine

with leaves and clusters of grapes and the words "Friend Welcome" above

and "Evil Beware" below

Just a practice piece to see if I could cut wood with chisels in a decorative pattern

The background is just one of the hundreds of beautiful camelias that have flourished on our lot during the winter of 1999-2000. As of this posting, the azaleas have come and gone, but we still have gorgeous camelias!
