LOWELL, Mass., November 29, 1999
OrderTrust, Inc., provider of integrated order management services for
e-commerce, announced today that Blockbuster Inc. (NYSE: BBI) has
chosen OrderTrust to provide the order management services for
BLOCKBUSTER.com, the retailers new online commerce channel.
Blockbuster.com will use OrderTrusts
state-of-the-art order management network to provide real-time credit
card authorization and inventory checking, route order line items to
the appropriate suppliers, manage and track order information, and
provide order status updates to deliver a positive overall shopping
experience for the online consumer. By tapping into the flexible and
scalable OrderTrust network, blockbuster.com is ensuring its ability
to process customer orders from the simple to the most complex
quickly and accurately. The decision to outsource its order management
functions to OrderTrust stemmed from blockbuster.coms commitment to
delivering a superior online shopping experience an experience
that continues after the consumer hits the buy button.
"We are extremely proud to have
been chosen by Blockbuster to assist them in implementing their click
& mortar strategy," said Jim Daniell, CEO of OrderTrust.
"Blockbuster turned to us because our network has proven to be
capable of handling complex and high-volume order processing
requirements. As more consumers look to shop online this holiday
season, they are likely to turn to familiar and trusted brands like
Blockbuster. Were looking forward to helping Blockbuster protect
its brand equity by reliably handling its high-volume order processing
requirements and enabling the kind of positive overall shopping
experience that will keep shoppers coming back for more."
In addition to offering the latest
titles in video, DVD and video games, blockbuster.com will augment its
standard product offerings with related merchandise and special
promotional items from leading manufacturers and suppliers.
By using the flexible OrderTrust
network to route and manage orders, blockbuster.com will be able to
add and remove suppliers quickly and easily to support the latest
entertainment and media trends without addressing costly and
time-consuming infrastructure changes.
"In the home entertainment
market, its critical that we can add and change suppliers with
optimal speed and ease to capitalize on whats hot at any given
moment," said Shellye Archambeau, senior vice president of
ecommerce for Blockbuster. "By outsourcing our order management
function to OrderTrust, we can focus on driving site traffic,
implementing world-class merchandising strategies, and further
building our brand, rather than dealing with complex and never-ending
infrastructure issues."
