Behold

My landscape's in need of tending,
the soil needs reworked. At times I've overcompensated
for this horrid flaw or that miserable mistake
and it shows. Cracks in the foundation
long forgotten
are the very scars of a life lived
to its fullest. My yard no longer in springtime
but in the full bloom of summer's heat
and I wonder at the beauty I'm told is there.
Things exist there such as birth and death,
sun and moon, light and darkness.
To any eye, it's an average expanse
of an average plane of average ground
overabundant in places in need
of a lover's touch.
But mine it shall always be.
I stand my average ground
and completely disrobe it for all
and let it be seen for the average beauty:
the beauty I behold in me.
