Brain Dead

Thinking crazy thoughts
When I think at all.
Brain dead.
Empty head.
To sleep I want to fall.

Yawning until I shiver,
Unfortunately, my mind,
Wandering,
Pondering,
Will not shut off, I find.

Falling deeper into darkness,
Stimulants to clear the fuzz.
Caffeine.
Nicotine.
To help, a little sugar buzz.

Annoying noises, jolting awake,
Heart irregular, and too fast.
Warm milk.
Soft silk.
How long will this last?

Sitting silent in the night,
Head resting on my arm.
I yawn.
It's dawn.
A shrill ringthe Alarm.

Time to get up and move.
I barely slept at all.
Brain dead.
Empty head.
To sleep I want to fall.
