Fighting Demons
Drawing sword and wielding shield,
Armor hard and head-strong, too,
Fighting demons in the mind
That color life and love so blue.
Full brain and empty heart
Do nothing for a soul.
Pieces chunked out of the armor,
Resting on a grassy knoll.
Stabbing at the mighty monster
Trying to steal away the faith
Built on love and trust abound,
But missing killing off the wraith.
Too tired to stand on wobbly legs.
Curling up into a ball.
Watching destruction of simple dreams
While nightmares rapidly start to fall.
Demons beat upon the back
Of one who tried so hard to fight.
Bruised and broken, strength prevails,
Raising a hand with lots of might,
Hoping someone will come to aid.
The weary needs to be saved,
For one heart is bone-dry empty
From the wars that it has braved.
