I Want Your Love

When I sing a song for you,
I don't want advice
On how to mix the music
Or make it sound real nice.

When I ask your permission
To do something I must,
I don't want explanations
Of why you can't trust.

When I am extremely nervous
Shaking in my shoes,
I don't want you telling me
I'm being silly, it's not news.

When I am upset and crying,
I don't want you yelling at me
Because you don't want to deal
With whatever's upsetting me.

When I'm in need confidence,
I don't want you to shout.
I don't want your impatience.
It really wears me out.

When I want you desperately,
I don't want you to make me plead.
I want you to give to me lovingly,
Instead of feeding your greed.

When I go out of my way
To do something special for you,
I don't want your opinions
On my inefficiency, too.

What I want is your kindness,
Your love and your heart.
It's what I've forever sought
From the very start.
