Inner Peace
Sitting in a room enveloped by darkness
With the exception of one burning candle,
Seeking serenity and peace in her heart,
This is more than she can handle.
Mourning the loss, she dries her tears.
Taken from her life against her will.
There is no loss. She'd crossed the line.
It's all in her mind, this horrible chill.
Her own well-being and low self-worth
Have been damaged for the very last time.
Now out of the hole this love had dug,
With fingers bleeding, she'll climb.
Chasing the dreamrepeating past mistakes
Will only tend to break her heart.
If the dream wants her it will find her.
For now, her life's torn apart.
Candlelight burned into her soul
As many memories as it can hold.
Quite amazing. all of them fit.
Why, then, did she feel so cold?
The days of feeling unwanted and unloved
Were gently pushed aside.
No longer welcome. They just don't fit.
From that dream she shall hide.
Sunshine enters. Her heart warmed.
New dreams about to take hold.
Glowing candle half burned up.
Promises of tomorrow shone like gold.
Different path with no self-destruction
Rose before her around the bend.
No more tearing herself apart.
Tears and fears would finally end.
Her life light like the candle
If she continued, would eventually cease.
Studying the flame, she blew it out.
And turned the corner towards inner peace.
