Little Visit
I'm hoping you simply do not mind.
We were here and you were not.
I thought soon you'd be home,
so I started coffee in the coffee pot.
As you can tell I had a good day
so I'm being silly and writing
This goofy poem to a couple of friends.
A creative urge I'm fighting.
We pulled up and your dog was scared
so we urged him to come inside.
He put up with our impromptu visit
then promptly ran out the door to hide.
Your TV was glaring and playing loud
so I assumed you'd be home soon.
Of course, wishing you'd arrive home
Was like praying to the moon.
Don's across the street paying a call.
The boys are watching sitcoms on the set.
Your brother, Rusty, dropped off a note.
You went further than you planned, I bet.
Having not yet eaten dinner,
my stomach's growling beyond belief.
Soon we must be on our way
to give our empty stomachs relief.
Sitting here writing this silly note
I feel like a budding Dr. Seuss.
God forbid I ever become famous...
You'd think a nut was on the loose!!
Before we call this visit a loss,
Kenny needs to know good news.
Don's shop is hiring on the spot,
so get your ass up there - no more blues.
Before I close, I've one more thing:
With you, to pick, I have a bone.
Make things easier on us all.
Go and get a gosh-darned phone!!!
