The Apology

I apologize from the bottom of my heart for any hurt I've caused.
I'm sorry for the pain you feel at this relationship that's paused.

There is nothing I can say to take away your pain.
I can hold you close within my heart until you're healed again.

Unfortunately, the decisions now are yours to make alone.
I wish I could help ease your burden. Your hurt I don't condone.

But Baby you are all grown up and I have grown as well.
No longer an innocent, wide-eyed child as I'm sure you can tell.

And Sweetheart, your joy and bliss are all I've truly sought.
For some reason, though, we don't speak the same language we once thought.

So now you're hurting, your pride is torn, and you're feeling unloved and lost.
I wish there was something I could do to prevent hurt at all cost,

But there's not. So I go on each day hoping you will fully recover.
And someday when you're ready again, perhaps we can rediscover

What we once shared a long time ago before all the nasty pain I gave,
Before I opened up and shared my feelings, and before my heart I tried to save.

Until then, My Love So True, I will remain yours until you say.
Until you decide what it is you want, for your heart to mend I pray.
