We Are Riding 'Round...

We're riding 'round and 'round on a carousel,
going nowhere, and not that fast,
enjoying the scenery as it glides by.
I really want this ride to last,
But over in the far corner of the park,
sunset gleaming on it's steel rails,
is a roller coaster ready to descend -
by comparison, this ride fails
to cause the excitement that coaster would cause
when the cars slide down that steep hill.
Hearts racing and blood pounding at the temples
of those who don't want to sit still.
Up and down the hills, the cars race 'round the tracks
with screams of fun-filled ecstacy.
And on this carousel, I watch those people,
mesmerized, wishing they were me.
