During my early twenties I filled many sketchbooks with doodles of people and animals. Some are variations on contour drawing like I learned to draw in a figure drawing classes, but all were strictly from my imagination, with no photos or models to refer to. I believe that we all have gestaults of human motions, expressions, and gestures stored in our subconcious. Often I did not even know what I would draw but just started out in one spot...usually the eyes...and out would flow an expressive character. I gave up this style in pursuit of more serious art, but I finds it comes back to me when I try. When I look at these drawings now, it is like revisiting imaginary friends. I hope others will appreciate the feelings expressed by these characters.
