Shirley Shirley is the story's main character - she may look happy here but in the story she spends much of her time looking rather sulky. All for a good reason, though. She may initially seem like a nice girl - and she normally is - though in the end her motivations end up being rather obscure, and, well, dodgy. She sorts out most of what's bothering her in the end, but regardless of what the ending is, this is one person that will never truly finds redemption. |

Michelle Michelle is Shirley's best friend. She isn't in the story much, but she is central to what happens in it. Actually, she... she only gets one line (oh well, she doesn't look like the type that talks alot anyway), and no real personality because she isn't on long enough. Perhaps that's what makes her role and legacy poignant; her life being so tragic. |

Nina Nina is Shirley's other best friend, not as close as Michelle but the last of the trio nevertheless. Nina doesn't feature much in the story either, and is the least important character here (looks like Shirley got all the attention...). I put her mugshot here anyway because I gave her a neat-o hairtyle, but she is also a nice, sweet girl. She's not around for most of the story, but she makes a comeback in the end - it's only fair, though you'll have to wonder about her involvement in the "problem" in the story... |

Shirley's Parents
Shirley's estranged parents would like to be closer to their daughter (or is it the other way around?), but Shirley doesn't open up to them much. The fact that they are pretty boring people doesn't help either. There is this communication barrier between them that neither side know how to break down; though the one who is really bothered by it is Shirley's mum. Shirley's mum is kinda a worrier who tries too hard to "understand" her daughter, while Shirley's dad happens to be the unsympathetic, no-nonsense type. |

Desmond Desmond is Shirley's cousin, and he is slightly more interesting than Shirely's parents. He's a psychologist. That renders him the guy who is always one step ahead and knows everything. From a personality point of view he is more light-hearted than Shirley's parents, but he is still as calm and controlled as everyone else is. NB. This guy may claim to be a psychologist, but I do not know any psychologists and so don't know how psychologists interact with their patients. Do not, for one second, think that psychologists act or even look, anything like him. |
