"Magneto Rex-The Conclusion" by David (Rhyme)
This month, the three-issue limited series known as 'Magneto Rex' concluded. I think it's safe to say the name says it all. Magneto the King. In this limited series, which may just be the best limited series of the X-Universe, Magneto shows his power like never before.
We have it all in this book. In fact, on the 8th page (not counting ads) of this book, we have a chilling cameo by Apocalypse himself. On page 11, we have Magneto killing the Zealot by wrapping him in metal and hurling him into outer space. On page 16, we have Quicksilver claiming his role as heir.
It all wrapped up beautifully, really. Joe Pruett and Brandon Peterson put the seperate pieces of the puzzle together, creating a picture. They told us that Apocalypse would soon be back, and in full force. They showed us that Magneto is not a force to be reckoned with. They showed us that he still has that power that is fueled by hatred. And they allowed us to see that Quicksilver will not run from his background anymore. That he's ready to work beside Magneto in order to bring the mutates on Genosha equal treatment. And Magneto had been planning this from the start.
With this in mind, I anxiously await the Astonishing X-Men limited series due out in July by Brandon Peterson. Sure, it's got Howard Mackie writing it (and he's a very bad writer), but...it just might be redeemable if Brando's the one drawing it.
