Synopsis
In his mansion in
Westchester, New York, Professor Charles Xavier uses his mental
power of telepathy to call the X-Men to his side. As Cyclops,
Iceman, Angel, and Beast join their mentor, Iceman and Beast get
into an argument, which is broken up by Angel. Professor X
informs the team of the tests they must face to utilize their
powers. Beast and Angel complete their exercises, but Iceman opts
to fool around instead, which he regrets when Beast throws a bowling ball at him. For Cyclops's exercise, Scott must fight his teammates. In the middle of it,
though, Jean Grey shows up at the front of the mansion. When she
enters the building, the professor introduces her to the rest of
the team, which she has joined. After Jean demonstrates her
power, the boys try to win over her heart.
Meanwhile, at Cape Citadel,
the mutant Magneto disrupts the military's plan to launch a
rocket. After wreaking havoc at the base, launching missiles, and
warning the humans of his power, Magneto siezes the base for
himself.
Back at the X-Men's
mansion, Professor X informs the X-Men of the happenings at Cape
Citadel. They immediately leave for the Cape. Upon arrival, the
team sees the trouble Magneto is causing, and the base's leaders
accept their aid. Cyclops pushes his powers to the limit to
penetrate a magnetic forcefield with which Magneto has surrounded
the base. Seeing his new foes, Magneto launches some of the
base's missiles at them. Using much teamwork, the team manages to
disarm the missiles. Angel attacks Magneto but is quickly
defeated. Magneto uses rocket fuel to create a huge explosion,
which buries the X-Men underground. The team tunnels through back
to the surface, but Magneto escapes, anyway.
After Cape Citadel's
leaders thank the X-Men, Professor Xavier tells them of his pride
as they return home in their jet.
