911 To the Rescue!

In this country, 911 is the universal emergency phone number, but in Britain it's a hot new guy group, and the name is fitting because this trio just might make you feel woozy! They are Spike Dawbarn, Jimmy Constable and Lee Brennan, and if you ask any teen girl in Britain what she knows about 911, she'd most likely be able to tell you lots!

Virgin, the same record company that pumped up the Spice Girls, is backing 911, so that should tell you that they've got major faith in Spike, Jimmy and Lee's singing! Their US debut album will be released this month, but the first single, "Love Sensation," is out and is on the soundtrack of the new video release, Casper: A Spirited Beginning, which is the sequel to last year's Casper. No, unfortunately hunky Devon Sawa does not reprise his role as the human Casper! But adorable Brendon Ryan Barrett(who's also on TV on Soul Man) stars as a ghost loving boy who's trying to get his dad's love. Anyway, back to 911! ALL-STARS had lunch with Jimmy, Spike and Lee when they were visiting New York City recently, and we promise you're going to love these three! Here's some of what we talked about that day...

ALL-STARS: How did you decide that "Love Sensation" would be the first single?
911: I think we just listened to our record company. It's on the Casper video, and we thought all the kids and teenagers would like it. It was good timing.
ALL-STARS: Tell us how old you all are.
JIMMY: I'm 21 years old.
SPIKE: I'm 20.
LEE: I'm 19, but I'll be 20 on September 27th.
ALL-STARS: What music has influenced you guys?
911: Michael Jackson, Bobby Brown, New Edition, anything really.
ALL-STARS: We hear you get mobbed by fans in other parts of the world!
911: Yes - it's enjoyable! It was kind of scary when we did a few shopping malls in Malaysia because we never knew anybody knew 911, we didn't take any security guards with us, and there were thousands and thousands of people! We had to juggle the security guards out of the mall to get us out of the place. We went there thinking, nobody's going to know us, and just as we got there that day our album had gone up to number one there.
ALL-STARS: What are the 911 fans like?
911: They're great! We're very grateful to them because we wouldn't be here if it wasn't for them. Even if we're doing a place where we're not known, we get fans who follow us and give us support.
