Mabon

Mabon is also called the Autumn Equinox, September 21st. Day and Night are equal. The God weakens after the completion of the harvest and nature prepares for its winter rest with the goddess' rebirth. It is a time for thanksgiving and meditation.

Traditional things for Mabon are walking in wild places like woods, gathering herbs for decorations and future use. Traditional foods are products of the last harvest, like corn and grain, beans, squash. Corn bread and baked squash are popular fare. (both very tasty)

incences:myrrh, benzoin, sage

Leaves fall
The days grow cold
The goddess pulls her mantle of earth around her
As you, O great Sun God, sail towards the westowards the lands of eternal enchantment
Wrapped in the coolness of night
Fruits ripen
Seeds drop
the hours of day and night are balanced
Chill winds blow in frin the North wailing laments
In this seeming extinction of nature's power, O Blessed
Goddess, I know that life continues
For spring is impossible without the second harvest
As surely life is impossible without death
Blessings upon you, O Fallen God, as you journey into
The lands of winter and the Goddesses loving arms.
