FAQ
Q. What are merchant services?
A. Merchant Services are services used by merchants (i.e. retailers,
restaurants, repair shops, physicians, attorneys, consultants, etc)
so as to be the most competitive and profitable as possible.
These services include, but are not limited to: credit card & check
processing; discounted long distance telephone service; Internet
research tools; website development; business intelligence and
computer security; marketing and advertising; wholesale office
supplies; textbooks & training; telemarketing; and wireless solutions.
Q. What is an electronic transaction processing service?
A. This is a service that allows merchants to process credit cards
(and checks) from their customers. Merchants can accept credit card
purchases in their store, by mail, telephone or via their own website.
Q. What is a Firewall and how does is provide for computer security?
A. A firewall is either computer software, hardware, or both, used to relay
only the information that is clearly intended and authorized to reach
the other side. A firewall provides security by helping to keep your
computer system safe from "hackers" who may be trying to send
destructive "packets".
Q. What are Cryptography and Steganography?
A. Cryptography is the science of using mathematics to encrypt and decrypt data.
Today, cryptography lets you store sensitive information (i.e. computer files) or to
transmit information (eg. email or voice) across unsecure networks, a telephone,
or the Internet, so that it cannot be read by anyone except the intended recipient.
Steganography is the art and science of hiding information (i.e. data).
Today you can use a Personal Computer to hide (and encrypt) information in a
text file, a picture (image file) or a sound file, then transmit it to someone who can
then "open" and "decrypt" it, so that it can be read by them, and no one else.
