Facts ..
ayo
Ayo One Eye Red, or Ett öga Rött as he prefers to be called when he kicks it in Swedish, is no doubt HARDCORE HIPHOP manifested, holding down his position as Stockholms king of the hardcore, with an impressive ability to kick his trademark tales of suburban life and uncompromising battle rhymes in both Swedish (check out his knockout guest appearances on the Petter\rquote s debut album!) and English. Ayo debuted alongside DJ/cult veteran Andreas "Broadcaster D" Melin as the duo One Eye-Q = Young Wizdom, released a couple of singles and recorded a never-released full-length album for Polygram Records before splitting up. Ayo has since then carried on MCing as a solo-artist, and is currently recording for newly founded Topaz Records. Represented on three tracks on the album, "Bloodclot Have To Lose", "Häktet" and "Släng Era Skallar" (with Ken), Ayo is an MC not to dismiss in a hurry, because judging from his all-out attitude in his music, Ayo knows no limits to how far he can go.
eye-n-i
Following some years of obscure underground fame in the mid-90 s, the trio called Point Blank Poetics eventually split up. Eye-N-I went on rhyming as a member of the Natural Bond collective, Profile switched to rhyming in Swedish, and DJ Snuff is active as a DJ on the capitals club scene. However, the trio still get together every now and then (as Phenomena 3), for occasional freestyle sessions and performances. One of those moments got caught on tape , when Eye-N-I and Profile recently hung out in the studio with producer Christian "Falcon" Falk, who provided the beat for their head- nodding "Live Session", which showcases the raw uncut rhymes of these two freestyle.
ken
After abandoning the English language for rhyming in Swedish, this young MC from Stockholm suburb Hässelby (most recently heard on fellow Swedish language MC Petters debut album), is definitely one to look out for in the future, currently working with top producer team Masterminded, and backed by his unstoppable fleet of MCs (including Big Fred, Homan, Magro and Naoui Dalil amongst others), from the local 165 Records. His collaboration with Ayo Ett öga Rött resulted in the monster of "Släng Era Skallar", while the contemplative and melancholic "Glöm Aldrig" slows down the pace and lets us in on some deeper thoughts.
petter
In the fall of 1997, Södermalm, Stockholm MC Petter took his demotapes around the capitals record labels, after deciding to make a bid for a deal. Firmly convinced that he would make it, Petter finally landed on a deal with BMGs Ricochet, which became the fortunate label to launch the career of this enormously successful artist. Not only making a name for himself, the success of Petter has also made the popularity of Swedish language hiphop rise significantly, reestablishing a platform for this form of rap, once innovated by Norra Botkyrkas legendary Latin Kings. (Not forgetting MC Tims ground-breaking single "Jag är det"). On "Maktens höjder" he breaks down his opinions on the complexity of today's society, and on "Sthlm del 2" Petter teams up with Serlock members, Pee Wee, a true hiphop disciple who`s been in the game for 15 years, both as an MC and a b-boy dancer, and Thomas Rusiak, for a dose of hardcore battle rhymes.
